Barcelona is leading the fight to sign Franck Kessie, a highly rated midfielder.
Since moving from Atalanta to the San Siro in 2019, Kessie has established himself as a dynamic midfielder, but his time in Milan is coming to an end because he refuses to sign a new contract with the Rossonneri.
In the last year, Barcelona has become a master at signing free agents, having signed Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia, and Dani Alves when their contracts expired.
According to a rumour in the Spanish newspaper Marca, Kessie is most interested in joining Barca. While Erling Haaland is currently Barca's top priority, the club is trying to enhance a number of other areas of their team.
With Sergio Busquets, Barcelona's lynchpin for the last 14 years, approaching the end of his career, and turning 34 in July, they will need to bolster their holding midfield.
Kessie, who turned 25 in December, is regarded by Barcelona as a long-term midfield pillar. Barcelona is also interested in Kessie because of his goal-scoring ability. This season, he has five goals for Milan in Serie A, a significant improvement on Busquets' single LaLiga goal this season.
